Quick answer: To slow down audio, open the file, keep 0.75× (or choose 0.9× or 0.5×) and press Slow it down. With Keep the pitch on, the sound is time-stretched so it stays in the same key; switch it off for the deeper tape-slowdown effect. The result is saved as MP3, M4A or WAV, and nothing is uploaded.

Learn a fast guitar solo, practise a language, or transcribe a fast talker. Slow the recording down while voices and instruments stay in tune.

Which speed for what

SpeedGood for
0.9×Fast podcasts and lectures, still natural
0.75×Transcribing, language learning, practising along
0.5×Working out fast solos and tricky passages note by note

Any speed from 0.25× to 4× is possible with Other.

Pitch kept or not

With Keep the pitch on, the audio is time-stretched: small slices of sound are repeated and blended so the playback is longer but every note stays at its pitch. The stronger the slowdown, the more you hear a slight echo or smear, especially on drums. With it off, the audio is simply played slower, like a record at the wrong speed: the pitch drops, which some people use for slowed-and-reverb edits.

Faster, and videos

To speed audio up instead, use Change audio speed. For the sound and picture of a video together, use Change video speed or Slow motion video.

Frequently asked questions

How do I slow down a song without changing the pitch?

Open it here, choose a speed below 1× and keep Keep the pitch on. The song plays slower in the same key.

Why does very slow audio sound echoey?

Time-stretching repeats small slices of sound. At 0.5× and below that becomes audible, especially on percussion.

Can I make the slowed version deeper?

Yes. Switch off Keep the pitch and the pitch drops with the speed, like a slowed-down tape.

Is my audio uploaded?

No. It is processed in your browser.
