Make a Slow Motion Video

Play a clip at half speed, or slower, with the pitch of the sound kept.

Quick answer: To make a slow motion video, open it here, keep 0.5× (or pick 0.75× or 0.25×) and press Make slow motion. Each frame is shown longer, so the result is smoothest with videos recorded at 60 fps or more; a 60 fps clip at 0.5× still plays at 30 fps. Nothing is uploaded.

Slow down a jump, a trick, a goal or a pour. Pick a speed, keep the sound natural or let it drop in pitch, and download the slowed-down clip.

How to use the slow motion video

  1. Choose the clip; trim it first if you only want to slow down one moment.
  2. Keep 0.5×, or choose 0.75× for a gentle slowdown or 0.25× for extreme slow motion.
  3. Choose what happens to the sound: keep its pitch, let it drop like a slowed tape, or remove it.
  4. Press Make slow motion and download the result.

Frame rate decides how smooth it looks

This tool slows the video by showing each recorded frame for longer; it does not invent frames in between. So the smoothness depends on how the clip was filmed:

Recorded atAt 0.5×At 0.25×
30 fps15 fps, visibly steppy7.5 fps, like a slideshow
60 fps30 fps, smooth15 fps, steppy
120 or 240 fps (slo-mo mode)60 fps or more, very smooth30 fps or more, smooth

For the best slow motion, film at 60 fps or in your phone's slo-mo mode, then slow it down here.

No quality loss

Slowing down only changes the timing of each frame, so the picture is copied without re-encoding: no quality is lost and it is fast even for long clips. The sound is stretched with a method that keeps voices at their normal pitch, or resampled for the deep, dramatic tape effect if you prefer.

Slow down just one moment

This tool changes the speed of the whole clip. To slow only the highlight, trim it into pieces, slow the middle part here, then put them back together with Merge videos.

Frequently asked questions

How do I slow down a video?

Open it here, keep 0.5× or choose another speed, and press Make slow motion. Download the result when it is done.

Why does my slow motion look choppy?

The clip was probably recorded at 30 fps, so at 0.5× it plays at 15 distinct frames per second. Record at 60 fps or in slo-mo mode for smoother results.

Can I keep the voices sounding normal?

Yes. Keep the pitch is the default: voices are slower but not deeper. Choose Pitch follows the speed for the deep tape effect.

Does slowing down reduce the quality?

No. The frames are copied as they are; only their timing changes.

Is there a watermark?

No, and the video is not uploaded.
