Receive files

Tap or click the link in the email or message you received. It opens a download page in your browser — no account, no app. If the link got cut in two (some email apps wrap long lines), copy the whole address, paste it into the box above and press Open files. The short download code at the end of the link works too, and the page tells you right away whether it found the transfer.

Links sent by email may carry a second, private ID for you alone. Paste the full link, or put that second part in Private ID (under “Link from an email asks for a private ID?”).

If the sender shows you a QR code (on their screen or printed), press Scan QR code and point your camera at it; your browser asks once for camera access. You can also scan it with your phone's camera app, which opens the same download page.

Every transfer has an expiry date, shown on its download page (usually 1 day after sending). After that the files are deleted for good and the link stops working. Some senders also choose “delete after download”, so save the files once you have them. If a link has expired, ask the sender to send it again.

• Only open links from people you know or were expecting files from.
• Files arrive exactly as the sender uploaded them, so treat programs and documents with macros with the same care as any download.
• Password-protected transfers need the password from the sender; Share Large Video Files can't recover it for you.
• Receiving is free: you don't need an account, a payment or an app to download files.
