File sharing for freelancers

Freelance designers, writers, developers and consultants deliver work to clients who expect it to look professional, and chase clients for the logos, briefs and access files they promised. A delivery link with your name on it, and a record that it was downloaded, saves a lot of emails.

Quick answer: Freelancers can deliver work on Share Large Video Files (up to 20 GB per transfer) with their logo on the download page and a custom short link such as yourname-acme-logo. Tick Email me when it's downloaded for a receipt, export the access log if a client says they never got it, and collect briefs, logos and content from clients with a file request that has a checklist, a due date and automatic reminders.

Files freelancers send, and how big they get

FileFormatTypical size
Logo or brand identity packageAI, SVG, PNG, PDF in a ZIP20 to 200 MB
Layered design filesPSD, FIG, INDD package100 MB to 2 GB
Website or app source code, zipped without dependenciesZIP5 to 200 MB
Manuscript, article or reportDOCX, PDFunder 20 MB
Edited video, 3 min 1080p at 16 MbpsMP4about 360 MB
Client brief and source materialPDF, DOCX, JPG, MP4 in a folder10 MB to 2 GB

The video figure is worked out: 16 Mbps × 180 s ÷ 8 = 360 MB. A code ZIP grows quickly if it includes installed dependencies (for example node_modules), so leave them out.

A workflow that works

  1. Collect what you need: before starting, send the client a Request files link with a checklist (logo files, brand guidelines, copy, photos), a due date and automatic reminders. They upload without an account, and you approve each file or ask for it again.
  2. Drafts: for designs and videos, upload with Client review so the client comments and presses Approve. Add View only (no downloads) with the watermark if you are not paid yet.
  3. Delivery: upload the final files on a normal link. Open More options, turn on Brand the download page with your logo, name and website, and set a Custom short link such as yourname-acme-logo.
  4. Tick Email me when it's downloaded. Your Transfers page logs every open and download with the time and device.
  5. Save these options as a Preset so every delivery looks the same.

Set these once, press Save current next to Preset, and reuse the same options for every client with one tap.

Proof that the work was delivered

"I never got the files" is a common reason for a late payment. With Email me when it's downloaded you get an email the first time the files are downloaded, and the transfer's Who opened it and Stats show each open and download with the time, device and country. Require a confirmed email so the record names the person. Export the log as CSV or PDF and attach it to a reminder or invoice. See download tracking.

Fixing a mistake after delivery

Spotted a typo after sending? On your Transfers page open Edit files or message and press Replace next to the file. The link stays the same, the download page shows the new version, and people who already downloaded it get an email. See replacing a file after sending.

Frequently asked questions

How do I deliver files to a client professionally?

Upload the final files, turn on Brand the download page with your logo, set a Custom short link and send it. The client downloads everything with one button and needs no account.

Can I prove a client downloaded my work?

Yes. Email me when it's downloaded notifies you, and the transfer logs every open and download with the time and device. Export the log as CSV or PDF.

How can clients send me their files?

Send a Request files link with a checklist and a due date. Clients upload from any phone or computer without an account and get automatic reminders.

Can I show work before the client pays?

Yes. Tick View only (no downloads): the client sees watermarked previews in the browser, and you send the files on a normal link after payment.

How long does the delivery link last?

Transfers expire after 1 day. Tell the client the date, and keep your own copy: a transfer link is not long-term storage.
