Will zipping make my files smaller?
It depends on what is inside. Text, spreadsheets, CSV exports, logs and uncompressed images often shrink by half or more. Photos (JPG, HEIC), videos, music, PDFs and Office documents are already compressed and hardly shrink at all, so Smart mode stores them as they are, which is much faster. The result shows exactly how much was saved.

Do you need a ZIP to send files?
For email, often yes: one ZIP attachment is tidier than twenty. For sending with a link you do not have to zip at all: add the files and the recipient can download them one by one or all at once, free up to 20 GB per transfer. A ZIP still helps when the other person needs the whole set in one go, for example a job application or a project handover.
Limits
The ZIP is built in your browser in standard ZIP format, which every computer and phone opens without extra software. That format caps the archive at 4 GB and 65,535 files. Folders cannot be picked as a whole in the browser; open the folder and select the files in it. Each file keeps its name and date.
