Quick answer: To split audio into equal parts, open the file, set the number of parts (2 by default, up to 200) and press Split into parts. Each part has the same length and, in the input's own format, is copied without re-encoding. Download the numbered parts as a ZIP; nothing is uploaded.

An upload limit, a transcription service with a maximum length, or an audiobook that should be split into chunks: set the number of parts and get equal pieces in one go.

How to split audio into equal parts

  1. Choose the long audio file.
  2. Set the number of parts: 2 to split it in half, more for smaller pieces.
  3. Keep the same format to avoid re-encoding.
  4. Press Split into parts and download the numbered files as a ZIP.

How many parts do you need?

Divide the length by the limit you need to meet and round up. For a size limit, remember that an MP3's size depends on its bitrate: at 128 kbps each minute is about 1 MB, at 320 kbps about 2.4 MB.

Cuts at exact times, not at words

Equal parts are cut at exact times, which can land mid-word. For speech, Split audio by silence cuts in the pauses instead, and the At times I mark mode on this page lets you place each cut by ear.

Lossless and numbered

MP3 and AAC parts are cut on frame boundaries (about 1/40 of a second) and copied without re-encoding, so they sound exactly like the original. The parts are numbered with leading zeros (01, 02 …), so they sort correctly in any player or upload form.
