Quick answer: Gmail and Yahoo allow 25 MB per email and Outlook 20 MB, and encoding makes attachments about a third bigger. Pick your provider and this tool makes an MP4 that stays just below the limit, so it attaches normally; the video never leaves your device.
Email providers refuse attachments over 20 to 25 MB, and a phone video passes that in seconds. Pick your provider's limit and get an MP4 that attaches without being turned into a cloud link.

Attachment limits by provider
| Provider | Limit per email |
|---|---|
| Gmail | 25 MB |
| Yahoo Mail | 25 MB |
| Outlook.com and the Outlook app | 20 MB (company mail servers may set other limits) |
| iCloud Mail | 20 MB (bigger files go by Mail Drop) |
Over the limit, Gmail and Outlook swap the attachment for a Drive or OneDrive link, which the recipient may not be able to open. See what to do when an attachment is too large.
Why we aim under the limit
An attachment is encoded as text for sending, which makes it about a third bigger on the wire, and some mail servers count that encoded size. So on this page the tool aims about 10% under the size you pick. If a message still bounces, choose the next smaller target; 10 MB passes almost every server.
Too long for an email?
At 25 MB, a video of a few minutes still looks fine at 720p; a 20-minute recording will not. For long videos, send a download link by email instead: free up to 20 GB, full quality, and the recipient gets an email with the link.

Frequently asked questions
How big a video can I email?
Gmail and Yahoo allow 25 MB per email and Outlook 20 MB. Because of encoding overhead, aim a little below; this tool does that automatically.
How long a video fits in 25 MB?
Around two to three minutes at 720p with good quality, or longer at a lower resolution. The page shows the estimated resolution before you start.
Can I send several videos in one email?
The limit applies to all attachments together, so compress each to a share of it, or send them all with one download link instead.
Is my video uploaded to compress it?
No. It is compressed in your browser, on your device.
