How to compress image to 100 KB
- Choose the photo or scan the form asks for.
- Leave the target at 100 KB, or choose 150, 200 or 300 KB if your form allows more.
- Press Compress to 100 KB.
- Check the new size (it is shown next to the file) and download it for your form.
How it finds the best quality under 100 KB
Instead of one fixed setting, the tool searches: it tries high quality first, then steps the quality down in smaller and smaller jumps until it finds the highest setting that lands under the limit. Only if even a modest quality is still too big does it reduce the pixel dimensions, a little at a time, and search again.
The result is the best-looking file that fits, not simply the smallest one. If your image is already under 100 KB, you get the original back unchanged.
Where a 100 KB limit is common
- Job portals and recruitment sites (profile photos, scanned certificates).
- Visa, passport-renewal and government service forms.
- University and school admission applications.
- Website builders and forums with small upload limits.
Check the form's instructions for other rules as well, such as a required width and height or the JPG format; the form rejects the file if either is wrong. For exact pixel sizes, use Resize image first, then compress. Stricter limits have their own pages: 50 KB and 20 KB.
Keep the file format the form expects
By default the image keeps its format, so a JPG stays a JPG. If the form only accepts JPG and you have a PNG screenshot or an iPhone photo, set Save as to JPG, or convert it first with HEIC to JPG. Everything happens in your browser, so your ID photos and documents are never uploaded to us.

Frequently asked questions
How do I reduce a photo to under 100 KB?
Add the photo, keep the 100 KB target and press Compress. The tool picks the highest quality that fits and only shrinks the dimensions if it has to.
Will the photo still look good at 100 KB?
Usually yes. 100 KB is plenty for a clear portrait or a readable document scan at around 1000 pixels wide.
Can I compress several images to 100 KB at once?
Yes. Each image is compressed separately to the target, and you can download them together as a ZIP.
Is my photo uploaded?
No. It is compressed on your device.
