Photos from phones record where and when they were taken, the device and sometimes your name. See exactly what yours contain, then remove it before you post or send them, without touching the picture itself.

How to remove image metadata
- Choose or drop your photos; what each one contains is listed at once.
- Keep “Keep the orientation flag” on so photos stay upright.
- Press Remove metadata.
- Download the clean copies or send them with a link.
What your photos may reveal
- GPS location: the exact spot, often your home, to within a few metres.
- Date and time the photo was taken.
- Camera or phone make and model, lens, and on some cameras the serial number or owner's name.
- Software used to edit it, XMP edit history, IPTC captions and copyright fields.
- A thumbnail: a small copy of the original, which can still show what you later cropped out.
Some social networks remove this when you post; email, messengers that send “as file”, cloud links and websites usually do not.
Cleaned without re-compressing
For JPG, PNG and WebP the tool cuts the metadata blocks out of the file and copies the image data byte for byte, so there is no loss of quality at all and the file gets slightly smaller. Two things are deliberately kept: the colour profile, so colours look the same, and the orientation flag (a single number), so photos are not suddenly sideways. HEIC and other formats can't be edited in place in the browser; they are saved as high-quality JPG, which carries no metadata.
After cleaning, each file is checked again and the result lists what was removed.
Private from start to finish
Uploading a photo to a website to remove its location would hand that location to the website. Here the file is read and cleaned by your own browser and never leaves your device. Want to hide something visible in the photo as well, such as a face or a number plate? Use Blur image.

Frequently asked questions
How do I remove the location from a photo?
Add the photo here and press Remove metadata. The clean copy has no GPS data; the list shows what was removed.
Does removing EXIF reduce quality?
No. For JPG, PNG and WebP the picture data is copied unchanged; only the metadata is cut out.
Will my photo turn sideways?
No, as long as “Keep the orientation flag” is on. It is the only EXIF value kept and says nothing about you.
Can I clean many photos at once?
Yes. Add them all; download them as a ZIP or send them together.
Are my photos uploaded?
No. They are cleaned on your device.
Need to send a big file?
