How to make a picture-in-picture video

  1. Choose two videos: first the main (full-frame) video, then the small one.
  2. Pick the corner and the size of the small video.
  3. Choose the length and the sound (usually both, or the facecam's voice only).
  4. Press Make picture-in-picture, watch the result, then download or send it.

Typical uses

  • Tutorials and demos: screen recording full-frame, your face in a corner.
  • Reactions: the clip you react to, with you in the corner.
  • Gaming: gameplay with a facecam, recorded separately.

The main video keeps its shape (capped at 1080p, or 720p on phones); the small one keeps its own shape at a quarter, a third or 45% of the width, with a thin white border and a small margin from the edge.

Syncing the two recordings

Both videos start together at 0:00. If you started the recordings at different moments, cut the earlier one with Trim video first so they begin at the same instant (a clap at the start makes this easy to spot). The length follows the main video by default.

Made on your device

Both videos are decoded, composed into each frame and encoded as H.264 MP4 in your browser; on a phone this takes about as long as the video, so the limit there is 5 minutes. Nothing is uploaded and there is no watermark. For two equal panels, use Side-by-side video.
