Convert HEIC to PDF

iPhone photos of documents and receipts as one PDF.

By · Last updated

Your files are processed on your device and never uploaded.

Quick answer: To convert HEIC to PDF, add the iPhone photos, drag them into order, keep A4 (or pick US Letter or Same as image) and press Create PDF. Each HEIC photo is converted to a high-quality JPG in your browser and placed on its own page, turned upright. Nothing is uploaded, which matters for IDs and personal documents.

Photographed a contract, a receipt or homework on your iPhone? Those photos are HEIC files many portals will not take. Turn them into one PDF with proper pages, right on the phone.

How to convert HEIC to PDF

  1. Choose the HEIC photos from Photos or Files.
  2. Drag them into the right page order.
  3. Keep A4 with a small margin, or pick US Letter or Same as image.
  4. Press Create PDF and save or share the file.

Why HEIC needs converting

Since iOS 11, iPhones save photos as HEIC (High Efficiency) by default. It keeps photos about half the size of JPG, but upload forms, Windows PCs and many office systems cannot open it. Putting the photos into a PDF solves both problems at once: one file, readable everywhere.

Tips for document photos

  • Shoot straight from above, in good light, with the page filling the frame.
  • Crop off the table around the paper first with Crop image, which also makes the PDF smaller.
  • The Notes app on iPhone can also scan documents straight to PDF; use this page when you already have the photos.

Size and privacy

Full-resolution photos make a large PDF, several MB per page. If a portal has a limit, run the result through compress PDF to 1 MB or a smaller target. HEIC decoding and PDF creation happen in your browser, so your documents never leave your device. Just need JPGs? Use HEIC to JPG.
