File sharing for startups

A startup sends a pitch deck to dozens of investors, test builds to early users, designs to developers and, later, due diligence documents to one fund. Each wants a different level of control, and you want to know who actually opened what.

Quick answer: Startups can send a pitch deck as view only with a watermark, require an NDA or a confirmed email, give each investor a personal link and close the link on a set date, all on Share Large Video Files with up to 20 GB per transfer. Send demo videos and Android test builds with download limits, collect feedback with Client review, and run a simple data room as a folder link. It is a transfer service, not a certified virtual data room.

Files startups send, and how big they get

Pitch deck with embedded videoPPTX, KEY50 to 300 MB
Product demo, 3 min 1080p at 12 MbpsMP4about 270 MB

The demo figure is worked out: 12 Mbps × 180 s ÷ 8 = 270 MB.

A workflow that works

  1. Pitch deck: export the deck to PDF (the free PowerPoint to PDF tool works in your browser), upload it and open More options. Tick View only (no downloads) with the watermark, and set Who can open the link to Anyone who confirms their email.
  2. For confidential rounds, tick Require an NDA before download. Set Close the link at to the end of the round so old numbers stop circulating.
  3. On your Transfers page, create a personal link for each investor. You see which fund opened the deck and when, and can switch one link off without affecting the others.
  4. Builds and demos: send the APK or demo video with Download limits: per person and confirmed emails. Use Client review on a demo cut to get comments at the exact second. iPhone builds normally go through Apple's TestFlight; send testers the invite there.
  5. Design handoff: zip the exported screens and assets and send them on a normal link with Email me when it's downloaded. When a screen changes, replace the file on the same transfer instead of sending a new link.

A simple data room, honestly

For due diligence, upload the documents as one transfer, set Who can open the link to Only emails or domains I list with the investor's domain, tick Require an NDA before download or View only, and turn it into a folder with Keep as a folder so you can add documents as questions come in without changing the link. Every open and download is logged with the person's confirmed email, the time and the device, and can be exported as CSV or PDF. What it does not have: per-document permissions inside one link, a Q&A module, or any security certification. Transfers are encrypted in transit (HTTPS), not end to end. If an investor requires a certified virtual data room, use one. See security.

Seeing which investors are interested

Signed in, Insights shows opens and downloads across all your transfers for the last 7, 30 or 90 days, with Opened, not downloaded and time to first download. With personal links, the Transfers page shows each investor's opens and last use, so you know whom to follow up with. See file transfer analytics.

Frequently asked questions

Can investors view our pitch deck without downloading it?

Yes. Tick View only (no downloads): the deck opens in the browser with the viewer's email and the time watermarked over it. No website can block screenshots, but the watermark shows who took them.

Can I see which investor opened the deck?

Yes. Require a confirmed email or give each investor a personal link; your Transfers page lists who opened it and when.

Can we require an NDA first?

Yes. Tick Require an NDA before download. The recipient confirms their email, types their name to sign, and both sides get a PDF certificate.

Is it a certified virtual data room?

No. It gives you restricted links, NDAs, watermarks and an access log, but we make no security or compliance certification claims. Use a certified data room if an investor requires one.

Can we send a test build to beta users?

Yes, for Android APK or AAB files and desktop builds, with download limits and confirmed emails. iPhone apps are normally tested through Apple's TestFlight.
