How to sign PDF

  1. Choose or drop the PDF.
  2. Draw your signature, type your name, or upload an image of it.
  3. Go to the page, press Add signature to this page, then drag and resize it onto the line.
  4. Press Sign PDF and download or send the signed copy.

Three ways to sign

  • Draw in the white box with a finger, stylus or mouse; it smooths the line like ink.
  • Type your name and choose a style.
  • Upload a photo or scan of your signature on white paper; the paper is made transparent so only the ink shows.

Place it on as many pages as needed, for example initials on every page with “Same place on every page”.

Is this a legal signature?

This adds a visual signature: an image of your signature on the page, like signing a printout and scanning it. For most everyday documents, such as rental forms, school permissions, simple contracts and HR forms, that is what is asked for, and in the EU (eIDAS), the US (ESIGN, UETA) and the UK such simple electronic signatures are generally valid. It is not a certificate-based digital signature that proves who signed and locks the file; when a document asks for a “qualified” or “certificate” signature, use the signing service the sender names. If in doubt, ask the person who sent you the document.

Your signature stays with you

A signature and a signed contract are exactly the things you should not upload to a site you do not know. This tool runs in your browser: the PDF, your signature and the signed result never leave your device, and nothing is stored. Send the signed PDF back with a link or by email, free up to 20 GB. To add the date or your name as text or number the pages, see Add page numbers; to combine the signed pages with others, Merge PDF.
