## How to use it

1. Choose your JPG images.
2. Press Convert to PNG.
3. Download the PNG files, or all of them as a ZIP.

## When a PNG is what you need

- **Editing in steps**: every time a JPG is saved it loses a little more detail. Convert to PNG once, edit and save as often as you like, and export a JPG at the end.
- **Sites and apps that only take PNG**, such as some icon, sticker and print-on-demand uploads.
- **Adding transparency later**: cut out a background in your editor and save the PNG with its transparent areas.

## What converting does not do

A PNG made from a JPG looks exactly like the JPG, including any blur or compression marks it already had; converting cannot bring back lost detail. It also does not make the background transparent by itself: white stays white until you remove it in an editor.

Expect the PNG to be larger than the JPG, often 3 to 10 times for photos. If the goal is a smaller file, you want [Compress JPEG](https://sharelargefilesfree.com/tools/compress-jpeg) instead.

## Private conversion

The conversion runs in your browser; the images are never uploaded. Convert one picture or a hundred, with no account, ads or watermark.

## Frequently asked questions

### Does converting JPG to PNG improve quality?

No. The PNG keeps the image exactly as it is now; it only stops further loss when you edit and save again.

### Will the background become transparent?

No. The image is copied as it is. Remove the background in an image editor, then save as PNG to keep the transparency.

### Why is the PNG bigger?

PNG is lossless and stores every pixel exactly, which takes more space for photos.

### Are my images uploaded?

No. They are converted on your device.
