# Add Text to an Image

Write on a photo in seconds: a caption for a flyer, a label on a screenshot, a date on a picture, a quote for a post. Drag the text where it belongs and save.

## How to use it

1. Choose or drop the photo.
2. Type your text, pick a font, size and colour, then press Add text.
3. Drag the text into place; tap it later to change it.
4. Press Save image with text and download or send it.

## Make text readable on any photo

- **Shadow** (on by default) separates light text from a busy or bright background.
- **Background box** puts the text on a semi-transparent panel: the clearest option on screenshots and posters.
- **Size** is set as a share of the photo, so it looks the same whether the photo is 800 or 8000 pixels wide.
- **Poster** style (a heavy condensed font) suits short headlines; **Handwritten** suits cards and invitations.

## Several texts, easy changes

Add as many texts as you need: each one can be dragged, and tapping one loads it back into the controls so you can change the wording, colour or size. Delete removes the selected text, and Undo steps back through every change. Arrows, boxes and a highlighter in the Draw tab help point at what the text describes.

## Text as a watermark

To stamp your name or website on a whole set of photos at once, in the same corner and size on each, use [Watermark images](https://sharelargefilesfree.com/tools/watermark-image), which handles batches and adjusts to every photo's size. For one picture, adding the text here gives you full control over its position.

## Frequently asked questions

### Is a watermark added to my picture?

No. Only the text you add appears on the saved image.

### Can I use emoji or other alphabets?

Yes. The text is drawn with the fonts on your device, so emoji, accents, Cyrillic, Arabic and Asian scripts work if your device shows them.

### Can I move the text after adding it?

Yes. In the Text tab, drag it on the photo; tap it to edit or delete it.

### Does it work on a phone?

Yes. Type, then drag the text with your finger.
